In 1996 a guy who's name was not Ruby Blue wanted to "play" with the newly available (new to the public) internet and needed a domain name. He had a bottle of Ruby Red grapefruit juice next to him and quickly found out that rubyred.com was already taken. Rubyblue.com immediately came to mind and was available. He's done several things with rubyblue.com over the years, including selling magnetic supplies.

In 2002 he moved to Kailua Kona, Hawaii and while there he was reminded of 3D anaglyph imagery by his Dad. His Dad and he had long enjoyed sharing optical illusions with each other and when his Dad saw some 3D glasses in a magic shop in "Old Sacramento", he shared them with his son. The son had been using Photoshop for years and thought he could do something better than the "banana & army man" postcard that his Dad had sent, especially with all the rich beauty of Hawaii.

His first attempt at making a 3D image was a picture of his mouse and keyboard along with misc desk clutter - it worked - and he was inspired to try something more significant. His second attempt resulted in "Water Lily", which inspired him to begin selling canvas prints in Hawaii art galleries.

Here he is at "Hawi Gallery" with "Mango Moon Mania".

One day he noticed a pair of 3D glasses sitting on his desk and the connection between them and rubyblue.com dawned on him - duh!

At that time rubyblue.com was sitting unused. He immediately began doing his 3D art under the name "Ruby Blue".

Eventually the idea of a 3D children's book came along. It just would not go away, and after about 4-5 years he finally sat down and wrote, "Ruby Blue and The Magic Glasses".

I, "Ruby Blue" hope you not only enjoy the website and my art, but get inspired to do something with 3D yourself. What a fun adventure!
